DREAMLAND began with these questions:
Why start a new design practice? Is there a singular client? How do we create a triangle of profoundly daring concepts, affordable solutions, and a healthful process of delivery? Can we cultivate enduring, alive connections - externally with our clients, and internally with our team? What is a mindful business model that invites intergenerational and interdisciplinary talent groups.
We lean away from broad industry words such as collaboration, sustainability and innovation. These words did not convey the weight of our intention. Instead, we choose words such as tenderness, compassion, truth, risk and courage - as the roots of responsive, creative and financial health.
DREAMLAND is a bold architectural design practice supported by an aligned and humane working process. Our goal is to serve mindful clients in a conscious process that is impactful to all. We believe in the transformational power of spaces to shift our collective thinking. DREAMLAND affirms that our environments can support and strengthen everyone. The democratization of space - and the equalizing impact it can have on humanity - is a philosophy we stand by.
At DREAMLAND, we work with our clients to tell their stories through rejuvenating and accessible design solutions. Together, we work to awaken integrity and conscious living, generating the experience of profound connection.
Providing Design + Direction, our business model and working methodology is unique. Bridging academia and professional practice, DREAMLAND is a unified, intergenerational, cross-disciplinary hub that facilitates an original design product and process.
HOW WE WORK, CREATE AND SERVE
Our holistic, design process comes to life at DREAMLAND through our L.A.B. The L.A.B. consists of three structural, interconnected branches where we Design + Direct: DREAMLAND LEARNING, DREAMLAND ALLIANCE and DREAMLAND BUILDING. (L + A = B) In the three branches of our practice, you will find a sustaining laboratory of research, design and implementation.
Led by Founder, Nina Freedman, DREAMLAND BUILDING is where we Design spaces that are tomorrow’s transformational sites. At the DREAMLAND ALLIANCE, experts Direct our practice by providing mentorship to young professionals who make up DREAMLAND LEARNING. This internal institute provides the core of research, practice and design delivery for DREAMLAND BUILDING.
EQUALIZING HOW WE WORK
AT DREAMLAND, we believe the next truly visionary idea could come from any member of our team. We give young design professionals an opportunity to put their fingerprint on projects. DREAMLAND believes the time is ripe for diverse genius to be uncovered. We rigorously select candidates who believe in a revolutionary, yet compassionate design and work approach. Our mentorship core trains and supervises these carefully selected individuals, whom we then entrust with project leadership. In line with our ethics, DREAMLAND is a radial, rather than a hierarchical structure. Success and business health at DREAMLAND is measured by the happiness of everyone on the team - not just the few at the top - but the ensemble as a whole.
DREAMLAND believes in a better future for us all. We actively empower those in need through our philanthropic efforts. DREAMLAND tithes a percentage of our profits to create design solutions for children and young adults locally and in the developing world.
